Carol Sims, lay member Williamsville, Central District, spoke against, Lana Robyne spoke in favor, Rebecca Klemm spoke in favor. Beth Nelson spoke and asked what effect this would have on loans we have taken using the Conference Center as collateral. Bishop Bard ruled that question would be more appropriate if the trustees bring legislation to sell the property. Tim Cook Carmi 1st, South District proposed amendment of an additional line at line 19. “After due exploration the Trustees will present a cost/benefit analysis including additional meeting options as part of the Trustees report at the next Annual Conference.” variously seconded, amendment vote yes–588; no–103. Amendment passed. Bev Wilkes Null, McKendree University, Central District, asked for prayer before we take the vote. Vote on the main motion as amended yes–557; no–143 LEGISLATIVE ITEM 115: Jim Barnett presented Legislative Item # 115 Financial Support for UM Camp at Little Grassy . Lines 42-44 are struck by Secretary Hempstead. These lines were included in the first draft of the legislation and then were omitted in the legislation as appropriately resubmitted. They were mistakenly included in preconference booklet. Brennan Hurley from Camping Ministries spoke in favor. Betsy Elifritz Warren spoke in favor. DEBATE PAUSED FOR THE ORDER OF THE DAY. UNITED METHODIST FOUNDATION CORPORATE MEETING: Led by Allen Kilgore and Ted Frost. Allen Kilgore called to order the meeting of the Foundation. Curt Franklin showed a video about the “Our Conference Our Kids” initiative. The motion was made by Allen Kilgore to accept the report RI 200 and elect the board; official motion came from the floor since Mr. Kilgore isn’t a voting member of the annual conference. Curt Franklin, Diane Cooper, Aletha Weatherall, Chris Gordon, Shalom Renner, Stan McMorris, and Pat Wright were elected to the Board. Passed by hand vote. PREACHERS’ AID SOCIETY AND BENEFIT FUND CORPORATE MEETING: Called to order by Ken Hogren. Class of 2028 board members Rev. Randy Robinson, Rev. Eric Swanson, Rev. Aletha Weatherall, Mrs. Karla Lohnes, Mr. Chuck Hunt Board elected: yes–605 no–14. Keith Anderson presented information about specific ways PASBF is helping retirees every day, using the analogy of PASBF as a beacon of hope. Ken Hogren presented for acceptance RI 201.
