by the Annual Conference Board of Ministry and adopted by the Annual Conference. C. Moving of Pastors 1. A licensed carrier shall be used in moving the pastor’s household goods, unless an alternate plan is approved by the pastor, District Superintendent and the Staff/Pastor-Parish Relations Committee of the charge to which the pastor is moving. 2. The local church to which a pastor of the Annual Conference is appointed shall pay the moving expense from within the bounds of the Annual Conference, up to a maximum per clergy of 18,000 pounds and a maximum per pastor of $500 for packing and insurance. Pastors, whose handicapping conditions limit their ability to do their own packing, may apply to the Cabinet for additional funds from the annual Conference for packing by the mover. 3. When the Bishop appoints a pastor who is located outside of the bounds of the Annual Conference but inside the United States, the charge shall pay ⅓ of the moving expense, and the clergy person pays the remaining ⅔ when the clergy person initiates the possibility of serving in IGRC. When IGRC recruits a clergy person to serve in IGRC, the local charge shall pay ⅓ of the moving expenses, the clergy shall pay ⅓ of the moving expenses, and the Cabinet shall pay ⅓. The clergy person is responsible for providing 3 bids before securing movers. When the Bishop appoints a pastor who is located outside the bounds of the Annual Conference and outside of the United States, the local charge to which an international pastor is appointed shall pay up to a maximum of $4,500 to assist with the travel costs associated with relocation. This amount will be reviewed quadrennially by the Bishop and Cabinet. 4. Multiple church charges shall divide moving expenses in a manner approved by the Staff/Pastor-Parish Relations Committee in consultation with the District Superintendent. 5. Where clergy couples move into the same parsonage and/or house, mov- ing expenses shall be shared in a manner negotiated by the charges’ Staff/ Pastor-Parish Relations Committees, in consultation with the District Superintendent. For clergy couples, the total allowable weight shall be 20,000 pounds, and total allowable packing and insurance shall be $500. In cases where clergy couples are moving into separate parsonages and/or houses, C.2 applies. The restrictions on pounds and packing/insurance expenses stated in V.C.2 apply. A copy of the moving bill must accompany the completed requisition form submitted to the Annual Conference. 6. Seminarians and/or seminary graduates living outside the Annual Confer- ence boundaries and appointed for the first time within our Conference boundaries and appointed for the first time within our Annual Confer- ence may receive additional funding for moving expenses from the Annual Conference Commission on Equitable Compensation at the request of the District Superintendent. This rule does not apply to Associate Members or Members in Full Connection of other Annual Conferences. 7. Upon appointment of pastor or pastor’s family living with disabilities church- es shall provide accessible housing either through an accessible parsonage or through providing an adequate housing allowance sufficient to provide accessible housing for the pastor and family that meets conference parsonage standards.
