Committee on Nominations Policies I. Introduction. Boards, committees, commissions, councils, task forces, teams, and other elected and appointed program and administrative entities (hereafter, “committees”) are an important means by which the Annual Conference carries out its mission. Many such entities are specifically mandated or recommended by The Book of Discipline , and others are created by the Annual Conference under the provisions of ¶610.2. II. The IGRC nominations process A. The Illinois Great Rivers Conference uses a connectional process for match- ing the interests and gifts of individuals with opportunities for service on committees: 1. Individuals listen for God’s call in their lives and volunteer for or respond to leadership and service opportunities through their District Committee on Nominations. 2. District Committees on Nominations discern potential matches be- tween individuals and service opportunities, and make recommenda- tions to the Conference Committee on Nominations. 3. The Conference Committee on Nominations maintains communication with districts about individual gifts and with conference committees about needs and opportunities, and nominates committee members from among the names provided by the districts. 4. The Annual Conference elects committee members at its annual session based on the nominations from the Conference Committee on Nomi- nations. B. The IGRC nominations process is implemented with the following consid- erations in mind. 1. The process described in II.A shall be the primary means by which persons are named to Annual Conference committees, except where otherwise provided by The Book of Discipline or by Annual Conference rules or policy. 2. It is anticipated that the large majority of the persons nominated and elected will be drawn from the pool of names recommended by the District Committees on Nominations.
