She was a member of West Salem Trinity Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Home and and Community Education Association (formerly Home Extension) of Jefferson County. Mildred worked as an operator for Bell Telephone Co. and worked alongside her husband during his ministry. Mildred is survived by her children: Marsha Jean (Martin) Winkelmann of O’ Fallon, Mark Alan (Pamela Ann) Tindle of Valier and Mitchell Lee Tindle of Lebanon, Illinois; grandchildren: Joshua Winkelmann and Lukas Winkelmann, both of O’Fallon; Seth Win- kelmann of Shiloh; Emma (Brian) Mullen of Glendale, Calif.; Erik (Leighann) Tindle of Benton and Ashley (John) Hainline of St. Louis, Mo.; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The funeral for Mildred Rowena Tindle was held April 30, 2025, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Harold Quick officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.

Lynn E. Travis 1953-2024 Lynn E. Travis, 71, of Galva, wife of IGRC retired pastor, the Rev. Chet Travis, died July 30, 2024 at home. She was born April 1, 1953, in Kewanee, a daughter of Glenn and Agnes Luymes. She was preceded in death by both parents. Lynn graduated from Galva High School in 1971 and Illinois State Univer- sity in 1975. She married Steve Nelson in 1975 and later divorced. In

1990 she met and married Rev. Chet Travis. Lynn was very active in the United Methodist Church, especially in choir, missions and as a teacher. She was also active in PEO and a strong supporter of many environmental, human rights and hunger organizations. Lynn helped start or re-organize food pantries in three communities. She was an officer for the United Methodist Women, on the local, district, conference and jurisdictional levels. She worked for 29 years as an English teacher/guidance counselor at Williamsfield High School, Charleston High School, Chatham Glenwood Junior High School, and Fisher Jr-Sr High School. Lynn is survived by her husband, Chet Travis; siblings, Keith Luymes of Galva, Nancy McClay of Knoxville and Carol (Peter) King of Basalt, Colo.; stepchildren, Joshua (Megan) Travis of Oconomowac, Wis. and Sara (Angel) Migwans of Hobart, Ind.; a granddaughter, Abby Travis of LaCrosse, Wis., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Lynn E. Travis was held Aug. 3, 2024 at Galva: First UMC, with Rev. Rebecca Gearhart officiating. Burial was in Galva Cemetery.
