After 20 years to teaching in Payson, Nadine answered a call to ministry and attended Dubuque Theological Seminary, becoming a probationary member in 1991 and a full elder in 1994 of the former Central Illinois Conference. Her 19 years of ministry included pastorates at: Rushville United Parish (Assoc); Jacksonville Pioneer Parish (Assoc), Jacksonville Parish, Farmer City, Springfield: Woodside; McLean-Waynesville; and Stewardson-Mode, from where she retired Feb. 29, 2009. She was also active in The Walk to Emmaus. Her interests included crafting, scrapbook making, reading, and crocheting. She also enjoyed traveling. Her travels included two trips to the Holy Land, mission trips to Mexico, a trip to Paris, and her favorite was a trip to Egypt where she went into King Tut’s tomb. She enjoyed southern gospel music and loved hymns and sacred music. Nadine is survived by her sister, Donna S. Wood (Craig) of Kirkwood, Mo., seven nieces, two nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews. She will be remembered by her many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, D. Dwain (Doc) Preston, Ronald S. Preston, and Lewis L. Preston, all of Quincy; as well as two sisters-in-law, Regina A. Preston (Dwain) and Dorothy M. Preston (Ronald). The funeral of Nora Nadine Preston was March 1, 2025, at O’Donnell-Cookson Life Cel- ebration Home in Quincy with Rev. Marty Pressey officiating. Burial followed at Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy.

Lois J. Rapp 1937-2024 Lois J. Rapp, 87, of Loda, the widow of the Rev. Stanley A. Rapp, died Oct. 24, 2024, in Gibson City. She was born Jan. 26, 1937, in Quincy, a daughter of Clarence and Pearl McNeal Nelson. She married the Rev. Stanley A. Rapp on Feb. 9, 1958, in Paloma. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 2020. Lois was a long-time Methodist church organist. She took her role as

minister’s wife seriously always there playing the organ and supporting her husband while he preached. Lois was also a long-time babysitter to many children in the community making a long-lasting impact on their lives. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her two children, Tammy (Ed) Kendrick of Melvin and Mark (Rhonda) Rapp of Galesburg; six grandchildren, Tom Rapp, Jessica Rapp, Erika Kendrick, Rachel Stewart, Joseph Kendrick and Jonathan Kendrick; and two great grandchildren, Carley and John Stewart. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, sister Maxine, and her infant brother. A Celebration of Life service for Lois J. Rapp was held Nov. 16, 2024 at Rosenbaum Funeral Home in Gibson City. Private family burial was held at Melvin Cemetery.
