University of Iowa and completed a degree in pharmacy in 1969. He worked for almost 30 years as a pharmacist, store manager and district pharmacy manager for Walgreens. Gordon is survived by his wife of 29 years, Nancy; his son, Michael (Kellie Jones-Mona- han) Monahan; his daughter, Natalie Griffy-Monahan (Kyle) Snyders; granddaughter, Kiralee Mary Monahan; grandson, Jaz Monahan; sisters-in law, Rosalie Monahan and Karen Hughey; sister-in-love, Dorothy Jacobs; and brother-in-love, Calvin (Rita) Allen. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Hughey Monahan, siblings and their spouses, Bob (Addie) Monahan, Joan (Lynn) Stratford, Phil (Fran) Monahan, Carole (Tom) Pinneke, Dean Monahan, from Mary’s family–Don Hughey and Leonard Jacobs; his three parents and special sister in law, Denny Monahan McNamee. Preceding him in death also were two sets of treasured in laws, Floyd and Nellie Hughey and Elmo and Mary Waters. He was an honorary and much loved member of the Hughey family, the Waters family and the Allen family. Nieces and nephews also survive in the Monahan, Hughey and Allen families. A private, immediate family service was held at the family home in Champaign with inter- ment following at North Fork Cemetery in Decatur.

Arla Marie Morse 1930-2024 Arla Marie Morse, 94, of Pontiac, a retired local pastor, died Dec. 10, 2024, in Pontiac. Born Feb. 11, 1930 in Walnut, Arla was the daughter of Fred and Susan (Morse) Stroebel. She married William “Bill” Floyd Morse Sept. 1, 1948, in Loretto. She completed the five-year Course of Study at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and served alongside

her husband in ministry. She served the following appointments: Hillsgrove-Friendship, Biggsville-Gladstone (Assoc), and Biggsville-Gladstone, from where she retired in 2000 with 11 years of service as a local pastor. Arla is survived by her four children; Jim Morse of Longmont, Colo., Sue (Michael) Wolf of El Paso, Tom (Marianne) Morse of Bloomington, and Teri (Don) Shane of Charleston. Also surviving are her 13 grandchildren; Erin (Frank) Oros, Ashley (Tim) Landrus, Jamie (Nathan Miller) Morse, John (Asha Kumar) Morse, Jennifer (Mark) Gerber, Peggy (Scott) Meade, Gretchen Bogner, Bill (Betsy) Wolf, Amy (Jon) D’Souza, Brian Morse, Kenn (Yen) Shane, Stephanie (Matt) Ogle, Courtni (Justin) Hays. In addition, 26 great grandchildren survive, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, her loving husband William “Bill” Morse, her brother; Robert (late Nancy) Stroebel and two infant brothers. The funeral of Arla Marie Morse was held Dec. 14, 2024, at Calvert and Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac. Internment at St. Mary Loretto Cemetery in Emington, rural Livingston County.
