several years, Sally left 7 Hamilton to work in a private surgical practice, spending the final years of her career as a scheduling nurse in the practice of Dr. Lynn Javolec, where she remained until retirement. Sally dedicated her life to caring for others as a registered nurse, where her compassion and commitment left a lasting impact on her colleagues and patients alike. Sally’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness and care will bring comfort to those she leaves behind. A memorial service celebrating the life of Sally Ann Mace was held Jan. 11, 2025, at Peoria University UMC.
Theodore “Ted” Martin 1934-2025 Theodore “Ted” Keith Martin, 90, the surviving spouse of local pastor, the Rev. Norma Jean Miller, died Jan. 16, 2025, in Franklin, Ind. He was born on Sept. 8, 1934, in Rock Island to Theodore and Grace Martin. He married Norma Jean Martin, who served as pastor of Oakford UMC, from 1988 to 1996. She died May 7, 2011.
Ted graduated with a PhD from Arizona University. During his career as a writer he worked with the Bureau of Censes, the CIA, and the Transportation Department of the State of Illinois, as well as a speechwriter for senators and governors. Earlier in life he was a licensed embalmer. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Tanksley of Franklin, Ind. and three stepchildren, Kathye Reily (Rich) of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Leslye Arnold (Wayne) of Washington Courthouse, Ohio, and Norman Staley (Marsha) of Frisco, Texas, daughter-in-law Beverly Staley, nine grandchildren, and eight great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ellen, his stepson, John Staley, step grandson Roy Smith, and wives, Jean Martin and Virginia Morrical. Visitation was held in the Family Room at Otterbein Senior Life Community in Franklin, Ind. on Jan. 28, 2025 with private burial following at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis, Ind.
Burt A. McIntosh 1926-2025 The Rev. Burt A. McIntosh, 98 of Bloomington, a retired IGRC clergy member, died Jan. 7, 2025 in Normal. Born July 31, 1926 in Flint, Mich., he was the son of Earl W. and Ruth King McIntosh. He married Elizabeth Halfyard Dec. 17, 1950 in Cisco. She died Dec. 15, 2017. He served as a Marine during World War II and within a few years
of completion of his service, he enrolled at Illinois Wesleyan University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in sociology. Upon graduation, he then went on to Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, receiving a Master’s in Divinity degree, and subsequent- ly ordained a Deacon in 1955 and then elder in 1958 in the former Illinois Conference of the Methodist Church. Spanning his 44 years of full-time ministry in the former Illinois and Central Illinois conferences, he served the following pastorates: Grove City, Waynesville, Divernon,
