Ruth Dolores Gott 1937-2024 Ruth Dolores (Storey) Gott, 87 of Enfield, the widow of the Rev. Everett E. Gott, died Nov. 13, 2024, in Macon, Ga. Dolores was born Feb. 8, 1937 in Enfield, a daughter of Robert Elcie and Violet Storey. She was the twin sister of Doris Brown and the younger sister of Walter Glenn Storey. Dolores was raised on a farm in rural Enfield and attended elementary and high schools in town.

She graduated from McKendree College in 1958 with her teaching degree. She married Rev. Everett E. Gott on June 6, 1958, in a double wedding ceremony at the Enfield Method- ist Church, which included her twin sister and her groom, the Rev. Vernon Brown. Rev. Gott died July 23, 2014. Mrs. Gott served with her husband at several United Methodist churches in Southern Illi- nois, retiring to his family home in Enfield in 1989. She enjoyed her years as pastor’s wife and loved the people they served. She was a substitute school teacher throughout Southern Illinois for many years, as well as an assistant kindergarten teacher at Booth School in Enfield. She loved her students and especially enjoyed teaching children to read, and in encouraging them in their artistic endeavors. She took care of many children and the elderly, making sure they had what they needed. She loved directing the choirs in their churches, and especially enjoyed presenting community Christmas plays and cantatas. Dolores loved flowers and could grow anything. Her home and yard were always filled with beautiful blooms and growing things. She was an avid crocheter, making afghans for family and friends. She supported missionaries around the world, raising funds and making clothing and dolls for underprivileged children around the world. Dolores is survived her children: Larry Earl (Ruth) of Macon, Ga., Anita Louise (Terry Logue) of Macon,Ga., Mark Wayne of Macon, Ga., Holly Ruth (Jeff Johnson) of Mount Vernon, Ind.; 15 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren; her twin sister, Ruby Doris Brown of Granite City and many nieces and nephews, and. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, R.E. and Violet (Walters) Storey of Enfield, her brother Walter Storey of Enfield, and by Everett, her husband of 61 years. Funeral services for Dolores Gott, were held Nov. 23, 2024 at Stendebeck Funeral Home in Enfield with burial at Enfield Cemetery.

Everett Wade Gregory

The Rev. E. Wade Gregory, 84, a retired IGRC clergy member, died Nov. 5, in Indianapolis, Ind.

Rev. Gregory was licensed as a full-time local pastor in 1975 and was elected as an associate member of the former Central Illinois Conference in 1980. Rev. Gregory served 21 years of active ministry, serving Latham, Latham-Niantic, Lovington, Sidell and Fisher before going on medical leave in November 1996. He retired as an associate member of the con- ference in 2006. A private family celebration of life was held.
