WHEREAS, the consent to close the Brimfield United Methodist Church has been granted by the presiding Bishop, a majority of the district superintendents, and the district board of church location and building, and all proper Disciplinary requirements have been complied with. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Brimfield United Methodist Church be closed and that the Conference Trustees be authorized and directed to transfer, sell, or otherwise dispose of said property as said Trustees shall deem appropriate, but in accordance with the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church and the Standing Rules of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church. Stan Irvin, District Superintendent Financial Impact: None WHEREAS, the Calhoun United Methodist Church located in Richland County was founded in 1841 and has had a long and proud history; and WHEREAS, the Church Conference of Calhoun United Methodist Church voted on December 29, 2024, to recommend closure; and WHEREAS, the district superintendent has recommended the closure of Calhoun United Methodist Church, and WHEREAS, the district superintendent has recommended that the property of Calhoun United Methodist Church be sold with the sale proceeds to the Illinois Rivers Conference pursuant to Article VII.D.1. of the Standing Rules of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church; and WHEREAS, the consent to close the Calhoun United Methodist Church has been granted by the presiding Bishop, a majority of the district superintendents, and the district board of church location and building and all proper Disciplinary requirements have been complied with. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Calhoun United Methodist Church be closed and that the Conference Trustees be authorized and directed to transfer, sell, or otherwise dispose of said property as said Trustees shall deem appropriate, but in accordance with the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church and the Standing Rules of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church.
