mended that the committee additionally include the District Lay Leader, the District Director(s) of Lay Speaking Ministries, and repre- sentatives of the district United Methodist Women or United Women in Faith and United Methodist Men chapters, and that the committee select additional at large members if it sees fit. District Committees on Nominations shall meet at least once per year. j) Conference Committee on Nominations shall consist of at least one member from each district, the Annual Conference Lay Leader, and other members nominated and elected by the Annual Conference to give special attention to geographic diversity and in accordance with ¶610.5 of The Book of Discipline to give special attention to the inclu- sion of clergywomen, youth, young adults, older adults, persons from churches with small memberships, people with disabilities, and racial and ethnic persons. k) Nomination Process: The Illinois Great Rivers Conference uses this connectional process for matching the interests and gifts of individu- als with opportunities for service on committee. a. Individuals listen for God’s call in their lives and respond to lead- ership and service opportunities through their District Committee on Nominations or the Conference Committee on Nominations. b. The Conference Committee on Nominations shall set a deadline for receiving potential nominees for leadership positions that is no more than 60 days before the start of the Annual Conference session. c. District and Conference Committees on Nominations discern po- tential matches between individuals and service opportunities and make recommendations to the Conference Committee on Nomi- nations which determines nominations for election by the Annual Conference. d. The Conference Committee on Nominations maintains commu- nication with districts about individual gifts and with conference committees about needs and opportunities. e. The Annual Conference elects committee members at its annual session based on the nominations from the Conference Committee on Nominations. E. IGRC Connectional Table 1. Purpose: The purpose of the Connectional Table (CT), in cooperation with the Bishop and on behalf of the Annual Conference, is to discern, focus, guide, and articulate the mission, ministry and vision for the IGRC through the setting of missional goals and priorities. The Connectional Table will also be responsible to fulfill the objectives and tasks as listed below on behalf of the Annual Conference. 2. Objectives: Since each annual conference is responsible to focus and guide the mission and ministry of The United Methodist Church within its boundaries, the Connectional Table will seek to do so by: (¶ 608, 2020/2024 Book of Discipline )
