In addition to other committees which may support its mission and min- istry, each District of The Illinois Great Rivers Conference shall have these committees which are nominated by each District Committee on Nomi- nations, reported to the Annual Conference Committee on Nominations,
and elected by the Annual Conference: a) District Committee on Ministry ¶666 b) Committee on District Superintendency ¶669 c) District Board of Church Location and Building ¶2519 d) District Committee on Lay Servant Ministries ¶668 e) District Committee on Nominations
8. These general rules shall govern the composition, tenure, leadership, and nominations of Annual Conference and district committees except when elsewhere defined by The Book of Discipline , IGRC Bylaws, or an Annual Conference approved policy statement. a) Composition of Committees: Committees shall be composed of at least five (5) members, nominated to give special attention to geo- graphic diversity and in accordance with ¶610.5 of The Book of Disci- pline to give special attention to the inclusion of clergywomen, youth, young adults, older adults, persons from churches with small mem- berships, people with disabilities, and racial and ethnic persons. b) Conflict of Interest: Committee members have a fiduciary duty to ex- ercise good faith in all transactions involving the Conference. A rule of honest and fair dealing shall apply to transactions between Com- mittee members and the Conference. They shall not knowingly use their positions or knowledge gained therefrom to materially or finan- cially benefit, so that a conflict of interest may arise between the Con- ference’s interest and that of any committee member. In connection with any actual or possible conflict of interest, a committee member must disclose at the earliest possible time the existence of the financial interest and be given the opportunity to disclose all material facts to the chair and members of committee considering the proposed trans- action or arrangement. c) Tenure of Committee Members: Members of Annual Conference and district committees shall be elected or appointed to four-year terms and shall not be elected or appointed to the same office for more than two consecutive terms. These tenure limitations may be waived during the nomination and election or appointment process in rare cases where they would otherwise conflict with inclusivity or exper- tise requirements. Terms of office on committees shall begin and end with the adjournment of the annual conference session each year. For the purposes of determining tenure limitations, the term of office of
